I’m a big fan of flavoring my coffee with infused syrups but I had never thought of actually just infusing the coffee itself with flavors. I got a recommendation recently to try out a lavender cold brew latte. Most recipes I saw incorporated regular coffee or cold brew with a lavender syrup addition. But I wanted something with a more intense flavor throughout.

If you’re looking for a bolder lavender flavor in your cold brew, here’s how to make lavender inflused cold brew yourself. It only requires 3 ingredients and requires very little hands on work.

There are special cold brew makers you can use for this, but if you don’t have one you can use a pitcher or a canning jar (that’s what I use). In addition to a pitcher or jar you will also need a fine mesh strainer.

I recommend using a medium or dark roast coffee in addition to organic dired french lavender. If you grow your own lavender you can dry that and use it in this recipe as well.

This recipe requires about 5 minutes of hands on time and requires at least 12 hours of brewing time. Once your cold brew concentrate is ready I recommend diluting it with a 1:1 ratio of concentrate of water (or milk). I recommend sweetening your final beverage with brown sugar or my lavender brown sugar simple syrup. I think lavender and brown sugar are a perfect pair (it’s probably the earthiness of the molasses that pairs so well with the earthiness of the lavender).

This recipes makes approximately a cup and a half of cold brew concentrate (6 servings). It’s enough to last you all week!

Start drinking cold coffee on purpose – DIY cold brew coffee concentrate.

I stopped drinking coffee in October. I literally quit cold turkey. I didn’t do it on purpose. I did it because my body (and baby) made me. It’s probably good I stopped drinking coffee because I was drinking at least 2-3 cups a day, if not more.

I’ve started drinking coffee again but have decided decaf is the route for me. I’ll be honest, was addicted to coffee and it’s been nice learning to function with having to rely on caffeine.

Unfortunately, it’s almost impossible for me to enjoy a warm cup of coffee now. I pour myself a cup and then suddently I need to feed, change, and dress the baby and by time I come back to my mug, my coffee is cold. So I figured, I need to just start drinking cold coffee on purpose.

There’s no easier way to enjoy cold coffee than by having a nice cup of cold brew iced coffee! Today I’m sharing how to easily make a batch of cold brew coffee that you can enjoy all week long for a FRACTION of the cost of Starbucks or Dunkin’.
