Progress

This week started slow but steady progress. I began prep for paint in the room by removing all the wall decor and priming the walls. Although priming is not always required when painting, let me share a few reasons why I chose to prime before painting.

  1. I want this paint job to look good! The key to a good paint job is a good prep job.
  2. The walls are currently blue but some of the former lime green color is also showing through. Because part of the walls will be white I want to minimize my chances of the previous colors coming through. Prepping over bright and bold colors helps to ensure my new color will be accurate.
  3. Primer is less expensive than wall paint. Because part of my color block is white, I’d rahter do my first coat in primer and my second coat in the paint instead of risking having to do multiple coats in paint.

What’s Next?

This week I will finish up my prep work and will start painting the upper half of the color block in my favorite white, Night Blooming Jasmine by Behr.

Ultimately the wall will have a color blocking of white on top and pink on the bottom.
