I’m gaining another sister in May and I’m so very excited. My brother-in-law is getting married to the most amazing young lady and I couldn’t be more excited. The moment they got engaged I knew I wanted to throw her a bridal shower.
I, along with a few other of her bridesmaids, threw her a shower recently and I like to think it was a success. It was deinifely a DIY affair but went off without a single issue.

The first step was getting the invitiation together. Yes, there are tons of places where you can buy bridal shower invites, but I opted to design Kat’s on my own. I started by figuring out the lettering style I wanted and what I wanted it to say. We settled on “Brunch with the Bride”. Once I had a look I liked, I scanned the lettering to my computer and used a design software to come up with the final look.

Flowers add so much life to an event… and they don’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
Let’s just talk about the flowers. My house has plants in every room and I believe the plants in my house bring some extra life to our home. I believe the same thing for hosting! Flowers bring such a special life to an event. I purchased a mix of white roses, red spray roses, yellow ranunculus, eukalyptis and other flowers from Trader Joes. I used the flowers to make a few arrangements of my own. I also used the flowers to add some beauty to the cake.
Speaking of cake — you might not know this but I used to have my own cake business. I made celebration, shaped, and wedding cakes for about 8 years. It was nice to get to use some that creativity again.

For the cake I did a traditional vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. I’ve been using THIS RECIPE for years and it’s definitely my go to for a perfect vanilla cake.

Since we went with the brunch theme we HAD to have a mimosa bar. SO simple but such a fun way to serve mimosas. We had champagne and sparkling grape juice that guests could top with a juice, and fruit puree of their choice.
We did peach nectar, cranberry, mango-orange, and orange juice. Fruit puree options were strawberry and blueberry. The fruit purees were so easy! You use as base of frozen fruit, sugar, and water. I used THIS RECIPE by Giada De Laurentiis.

Our second beverage option was THIS pineapple lemonade punch. Its so easy to make and it will blow your mind. So easy, so delicious.
I wish I could post pictures of the entire menu but we had SO much food. But here are some highlights.

The mini parfaits were SO easy! I used this GLASS JARS I found on amazon and did a quick layers of greek yogurt, sliced strawberry, blueberries, and granola!
I hope this shower provides a little inspiration for the next event you host!
