I never would have believed you if you told me I would spend so much time in my office this year. But of course we had a pandemic and like most people, I’ve spend a LOT more time working in my home office.

It’s been a little over two years since I turned one of our guest bedrooms into an office and it was about time to make a few updates.

For my office refresh I added a few extra plants, swapped out my cowhide rug for a chindi rug my sister was getting rid of, and added in a new chair and desk!

I was gifted the Flexispot ergonomic chair and standing desk and these items are exactly what I wanted for the office. I needed a chair that provides better support and I’ve really wanted a standing desk for those days when I need to stretch my legs.

My original office makeover was in early 2018 and I have to admit, I’m still LOVING the black and pink colorblocking. I like to pat myself on the back sometimes when I see that painting my walls black was actually on trend.

I’m excited to have a slightly more functional office space and hope I don’t have to make any more updates for a while.

Inspired

inˈspī(ə)rd/  1. of extraordinary quality, as if arising from some external creative impulse.

As I browsed the aisles of IKEA with my mother yesterday I couldn’t help but share with her how I’ve felt very inspired lately. She listens to me talk and I’m so very thankful for her. For me, when life shifts, my creative world seems to shift.

I was astonished to find that the beginning definition of the word, inspired, is nothing short of beautiful. It reads, “of extraordinary quality”…. I’ll type that again, “of extraordinary quality”. That makes me realize that all those things in my life, that I sometimes take advantage of, are extraordinary.

Watching my niece and nephew, adventuring outdoors with my puppy, spending more time embracing life, and watching the world around me change has been my sources of inspiration. My niece is so creative and my nephew always has the biggest smile on his face. My puppy loves me and my husband unconditionally and embraces all the good things in life. Watching the seasons change, transitioning into a new year, and enjoying all the new and old friendships I have has brought so much healing in my life. All these things have been the source of my inspiration and creativity lately.

inspəˈrāSH(ə)n/ 1. the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

I am an incredibly creative person. Sometimes I regret that I didn’t do more with the creativity that I’ve been blessed with. I’ve really wanted to change my mindset to that. We’ve been in our house for 10 months and I’m just now taking on the challenge of turning this house into a home… Hopefully a well and creatively designed home. I am the happiest and in my element when I’m inspired to create… I want to experience that happiness more!

I’m currently in the process of designing and redecorating my home office. To be honest my home office has been more of a holding space and storage room that anything else. As my vision is coming to life, I see it transitioning into a place that, one, I can ACTUALLY use when I work from home and, two, is a place where my creativity can really flourish.
